Tibby, Lena, Bridget and Carmen are back again for their third summer with the magical travelling pants. This time, things are a little different as the girls get ready to go away to college.
– Tibby stays home and works at a movie theatre. This summer, things happen that she can’t control and she comes to some realizations about herself, life and the people around her.
– Lena stays home to take an art class. Her grandmother, Valia, has been forced to move to America after her husband’s death. Lena does everything she can to avoid her. Through art, Lena learns more about herself and her family along the way.
– Bridget goes to soccer camp again, only this time, she’s a coach. She runs into Eric, a guy who she met two years ago and who was hurt by.
– Carmen, now living with her mom and her mom’s new husband, David, has some decisions to make about whether she should or should go away to college after she learns some surprising news. She spends her summer taking care of Lena’s grandmother and taking her to appointments at the hospital. There, she meets Win, a handsome med student … need I say more?
I loved the two previous books in the series, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, but contrary to popular belief about some books not needing second, third or fourth parts because they’re already great on their own, The Traveling Pants series gets better with every addition. At least that’s my opinion. The characters in these novels are so real that it feels as though you know them when you read about their lives. So it’s hard to have just one novel written about them. With every novel, you feel like you know these characters, like they’re your friends and you want to be there for them through their joys and their sorrows. The situations that happen in this series are very real; they’re thins that happen to all of us. That’s what makes this series so special. No matter your age, your gender, your anything, you can connect this these books on a different level than other books that are about out-of-this-world situations. It’s definitely a great series to pick up. So what are you waiting for? Grab a copy!
