I just finished reading another Harlan Coben thriller today and it definitely did not disappoint!
Marc Seidman is a pediatric surgeon specializing in reconstructive surgery for children in third world countries. He’s married, has a six-month-old daughter and basically has everything until he wakes up in the hospital to find that he’s been shot, his wife has been killed and Tara (his daughter) is missing.
After receiving a ransom note from the presumed kidnappers, Marc attempt to get Tara back, but the FBI believe Marc staged his own shooting after getting rid of his daughter and killing his wife. After giving the kidnappers their requested $2 million, Marc doesn’t hear from them again until 18 months later when they claim to still have Tara, but are only willing to give her up for another $2 million.
What seems like a scam gives Marc newfound hope that he can be reunited with Tara and regain some semblance of life. This time, Marc is prepared to leave the FBI out of it when he calls former FBI agent Rachel (who also happens to be his ex-girlfriend) to help track down the kidnappers and finally find his daughter.
Like every one of Harlan Coben’s thrillers, there are twists galore and just when you think you’ve outsmarted the author, something unexpected happens and you’re left shocked and with your jaw hanging open. At least that’s what happens to me!
This is definitely a must read! Grab a copy and (as always) happy reading! 🙂
