Love Wins! A Belated Happy Pride To All

Hey guys!

First off, HAPPY PRIDE!!! This year’s pride is especially awesome because of the US official legalization of same-sex marriage in all 50 states! I live in Canada, but it’s still a very exciting time and I’m so happy for all the couples south of the border who can now legally get married and have the beautiful experience of sharing their love and commitment with all of their closest friends and family!

On that note, a lot of companies have been sending out supportive pride messages. For example: Facebook now has the option to add a rainbow filter over your profile picture and YouTube created a super touching video, which got me teary-eyed when I watched it:

Em and I celebrate pride every year in Toronto by going to pride events (all held in the last week of June) and attending the pride parade. This year it literally rained on our parade … it poured all weekend, which made me groggy, but we got some sexy ponchos and kept on partying! We checked out a cool Bollywood event called “Bend it like Bombay” and watched the annual Drag Show where I saw the best drag performance ever! And finally, we marched in the pride parade. We usually watch from the sidelines so this was a different experience and it was great to see all the happy faces as we danced down the street.

Here are some photos from our weekend:

We bought awesome shirts from a company called unlearn and I felt especially great about it (as you can probably tell)

I really love our unlearn shirts. Em’s features ostriches with all but one keeping their heads in the sand and mine has a single fish swimming away from a school of fish. Essentially, the company creates and designs shirts that “provoke thought to inspire positive change.” Their designs are so simple, yet they can really make you think. You can learn more about them here.

All in all it was a really great weekend (bad weather and all), mainly because I got to spend it with the person I love and celebrate all kinds of love with a whole bunch of happy and smiley people here in Toronto.

Happy Pride!!!
